Floating Kute Kute is an original acrylic painting born from one of the most profound moments of Sheree Wills' life — her first journey home to Aitutaki, the motherland of her forefathers.
Upon arriving, she placed hibiscus flowers into the lagoon — a personal act of celebration, gratitude, and connection to the ancestors who came before her. Three flowers, three souls: one for her mother, one for her father, and one for herself. Together, they drift across the water's surface, carried gently by the current — a quiet offering to the land that had always been home, even before she had seen it.
In Aitutaki, where the lagoon is the very soul of the island, this moment was more than a homecoming. It was a return to identity, to whakapapa, to the roots that run deeper than memory.
This is not just a painting of flowers on water. It is a painting of family. Of belonging.
Painted in acrylic on canvas, Floating Kute Kute carries the warmth, colour, and spirit of the Cook Islands — a reminder that no matter how far we travel, the motherland never leaves us.
Original artwork — one of a kind.
